Hanger Lane is a major thoroughfare forming the westernmost part of the North Circular Road situated within the London Borough of Ealing. It also covers the areas of Park Royal and runs from the A4020 Uxbridge Road towards the A40 Western Avenue. Hanger Lane derived its name from Hanger Hill Park, a nearby conservation area which got its name from the Old English word hangra, which means wooded slope. It also runs around Hanger Hill, a ward and a local area governed by Ealing’s local council. Hanger Hill consists of two separate estates established during the interwar period namely the Haymills Estate and the Hanger Hill Garden Estate. These estates are characterised by buildings designed in a series of concentric crescents, blocks of flats and short terraced homes. It houses a multicultural community of British and a large population of India and Japanese descent served by the Hanger Lane station.
