Dalston is a district within the London Borough of Hackney, occupying the area south of Shacklewell and east of Canonbury. The area has become relatively well-known for its many restaurants, which serve a wide variety of international cuisines to cater to the neighbourhood’s ethnically diverse population. Ridley Road Market and its numerous pitches have become a highly-frequented attraction as well, due to the impressive selection of international food and ingredients available there. Most of Dalston’s commercial amenities are part of the Kingsland Shopping Centre, which is located just south of the market and across the High Street from the Dalston Kingsland railway station, while the green space of London Fields also provides the district’s residents with ample opportunity for outdoor recreation. And even though the transport options in Dalston do not offer direct access to central London or the London Underground, relatively large numbers of railway stations in its convenient vicinity are served by a wide range of trains that link them to important destinations in the south and west London regions.
