Marylebone is a district in London’s West End, within the City of Westminster. The area is most famous for being home to one of Europe’s busiest shopping streets but is also renowned for its status as one of London’s most important cultural centres, due to its collection of vintage properties and the ultramodern shops lining Oxford Street. The district’s distinctive grid-like street pattern, which particularly stands out in contrast to its neighbours, is one of its most notable features. One of Marylebone’s more recent achievements is the establishment of a Low Emission Neighbourhood, which was the result of planting of roughly 800 new trees along the major streets in the area to form a green grid. Most of the area is considered extremely accessible due to the district being served by a healthy number of transport links, including numerous London Bus routes, a handful of London Underground stations, and the Marylebone railway station.
