Totteridge is a residential district located roughly 13.05 km north-west of Charing Cross, within the London Borough of Barnet. Centred around the original village of the same name, the area was mainly developed in two stages: first with more substantial homes, following the opening of the nearby station on the Great Northern Railway and then later on, with more moderately-sized properties closer to the station after it was converted into stop on the London Underground’s Northern line. Due to its designation as a conservation area in the second half of the 20th century, Totteridge retains many of its traditional rural features, including a generous amount of open land and spacious properties. Its tube station serves as the neighbourhood’s main transport link but is also complemented by several Transport for London bus routes and, to a lesser degree, the Oakleigh Park railway station further east.
