Bethnal Green is one of the districts in London’s East End and located between Cambridge Heath and Whitechapel in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is known mainly as a busy urban neighbourhood that also serves as the cultural centre of the East End. There are also several conservation areas within the district, the most well-known of which are Bethnal Green Gardens and Old Bethnal Green Road. The latter is also the location of the Bethnal Green Road Market, one of the area’s main shopping centres. Most of Bethnal Green’s modern-day residents are either central London commuters or work within the neighbourhood itself, with affordable residential properties and ample transport links in the area appeal to many young professionals who move there. Bethnal Green is served by its own tube and railway stations, the former of which is on the London Underground’s Central line and the latter functioning as an interchange station for three separate London Overground services.
