Southgate is a north London suburb located 13 km north of Charing Cross along the south-west boundary of the London Borough of Enfield. Much of the district’s development happened during the first half of the 20th century, following the establishment of additional transport routes, such as the extension of the London Underground’s Piccadilly line to the section of the region now covered by Oakwood. Despite the 1930s development boom, however, the district still retains a significant number of green spaces, including Grovelands Park, Minchenden Oak Garden, and Southgate Green. In addition to the shops in South Point House, Southgate is also known for having several notable pubs. The Southgate tube station is the main access point for the London Underground in the area, while its Transport for London bus routes and New Southgate, Arnos Grove, and Palmers Green stations provide additional transport options.
