Baker Street is a major thoroughfare in north-west London, located in the Marylebone district within the City of Westminster. It was already one of London’s busiest stretches, with all manner of commercial establishments lining either side of the road, but became even more so following its shift to two-way traffic. It is also known for the bustling Marylebone Circus, which remains the unofficial name for one of its most frequented junctions, where it intersects with Marylebone Road. Baker Street is also world famous for having been home to the fictional sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, who lived at No. 221B, near the street’s northern end. Baker Street’s London Underground station is also located at its north end, while Marble Arch and Bond Street tube stations on Oxford Street sit in convenient proximity to the south.
