Whetstone is an area of north London located east of Totteridge and within the London Borough of Barnet. Centred around what was originally one of two extremely small developed settlements in the area (the other having been Colney Hatch), the neighbourhood is now generally regarded as one of the most privileged in the entire country, particularly when combined with Totteridge into a single district. The two most well-known points of interest in Whetstone are the Griffin, a pub outside of which the stone widely believed to be the locality’s namesake can be found, and the Barnet London Borough Council offices, which are located at the very centre of the district. Despite covering a relatively small area, Whetstone is well-served by a number of convenient transport links, which mainly comprise the Totteridge and Whetstone London Underground station, the Oakleigh Park railway station and, further to the south, the Woodside Park tube station. There are also several Transport for London bus routes with stops in and around the district.
