Palmers Green is an electoral ward in north London, located 13 km from Charing Cross, within the London Borough of Enfield. The district, which is now predominantly suburban, was originally a small hamlet in the locality of Edmonton that grew into a moderately-sized village followed by a rapid period of growth at the beginning of the 20th century, following the sale of several of the larger tracts of land. More commercial establishments opened in the decades that followed, including those shops and restaurants along Green Lanes, which came to be known as Palmers Green Shopping Centre. Palmers Green railway station handles the bulk of commuter traffic, and is complemented by a relatively large number of Transport for London bus routes and the nearby tube stations of Arnos Grove and Bounds Green.
