Haggerston is one of the districts within the London Borough of Hackney and sits adjacent to both Shoreditch and Hoxton along the borough’s southern border. Partly due to that proximity, property options in the area have also seen a good amount of modern-day improvement, leading many to consider the district a more affordable version of either of its two western neighbours. The retail needs of those living and working in the area are well-served as well, due to the wide range of commercial establishments lining both Kingsland Road to the west and Hackney Road to the south, while several moderately-sized open spaces, including Haggerston Park and Shoreditch Park, provide the opportunity for sports and other forms of outdoor recreation. There are also several art galleries and museums in the area, but the majority of the district remains given over to its wide housing blocks and growing number of gated communities. Haggerston is bounded by a good number of railway stations to the west and east, allowing for convenient overground access, however the Bethnal Green station to the south is still the closest station with London Underground service.
