Belsize Park is a London suburb located south-east of Hampstead and within the London Borough of Camden. The area was among the first in the region to be built up with flats, by private contractors in the late 19th century and eventually by Hampstead Council after World War I. The trend continued into the next several decades, with many of the district’s original Victorian properties being either replaced or subdivided, leading to Belsize Park being considered as Hampstead’s more affordable alternative. Belsize Village is the busiest part of the area and is home to a number of stylishly-built properties featuring several parades of (mostly) independent shops and a wide variety of dining establishments. Adding further to Belsize Park’s appeal are its extensive transport links, which include its own station on the London Underground, several nearby railway stations, and numerous Transport for London bus routes.
