Hackney Wick is a neighbourhood that occupies the south-eastern corner of both the London Borough of Hackney and the larger Hackney district within it. The area was among those that benefited the most from the wide-scale development that accompanied the construction of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in the neighbouring district of Stratford, which is further emphasised by a section of the latter being called East Wick. In addition to its links to both the Olympic Park and Victoria Park, the neighbourhood remains known for being favoured by artists and designers, many of whom have their own studios set up either within Hackney Wick itself or in Fish Island Village south of the station. Most of the commercial spaces in the area are occupied by bars, pubs, and restaurants, but there are also a number of retail shops in the area around the Hackney Wick railway station.
