Kensal Town is a dynamic residential district situated within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It is located on the northern tip of the borough where it converges with the City of Westminster, surrounded by North Kennington, Kilburn, Maeda Hill and West Kilburn. Formerly known as a notorious slum, Kensal Town is now a bustling neighbourhood of predominantly blocks of flats, a good number of well-kept period structures and several apartments. It is also home to an active and highly diverse community consisting of a large population of Moroccan, Afro-Caribbean and Portuguese descent. Residents in the area enjoy excellent transport links in the area due to its proximity with Kensal Green railway station. Route A404 also takes residents to the city centre in under 50 minutes. There are also fair selections of local retail shops, restaurants, simple cafes and pubs in the area lining Harrow Road and Ladbroke Grove.
