The NW4 postcode area covers Hendon and part of Brent Cross within the London Borough of Barnet. The area is mainly an urban district and home to a number of shopping centres, the most active of which are Sentinel Square, Brent Cross Shopping Centre, Brent South Shopping Park (though technically in NW2), and Hendon Central. The latter is particularly busy, due to the presence of the tube station and a large number of offices, in addition to several parades of shops. The district is also moderately famous for previously being the location of the Hendon Aerodrome, which was the site of many pioneering experiments in the aviation industry. Despite covering a relatively small area, NW4 is served by two London Underground stations (Hendon Central and Brent Cross), the Hendon Railway station, numerous Transport for London bus routes, and a large number of minicab companies.
