Archway is an inner London neighbourhood, located approximately 3.8 km north of Charing Cross, occupying the north-west corner of the London Borough of Islington. Named after one of the region’s former landmarks, the high-arched Archway Bridge, the district originally developed around the main road, which was historically a section of the Great North Road. Its London Underground station, in particular, has undergone several name changes over the years, reflecting the shift in the area’s identity as a landmark to being one of the region’s actual localities. The neighbourhood is home to two commercial hubs: Archway Market Place and Vantage Point, which are both located next to the station. In addition to the tube, archway’s most convenient transport links are the numerous Transport for London bus routes serving the area, with seven of them terminating in Archway. Additionally, the Upper Holloway railway station is nearby and provides ready access to the overground trains.
