Kentish Town is a district in north-west London, north of Camden Town in the London Borough of Camden. Most of the area’s modernisation and eventual urbanisation happened during the early 19th century linked to the establishment of new transport routes to and from the City. In its modern-day state, most of Kentish Town is unmistakably urban, with the mixture of high street and independently owned shops in its commercial district showing how the area has evolved over the years. The area is currently served by extensive transport links, which include its own interchange station, the Gospel Oak, Kentish Town West, and Camden Road railway stations, the Camden Town and Caledonian Road tube stations, and numerous Transport for London bus routes.
