The N14 postcode, in the Southgate district of north London, covers Southgate, Oakwood, and part of Arnos Grove within the London Borough of Enfield. The area is predominantly suburban, with a proper High Street in Southgate itself and several large parks and outdoor areas. The Southgate and Oakwood tube stations, are both grade II* listed buildings whose construction in the 1930s served as the impetus for major development in the area. Southgate’s traditional public houses are widely regarded as points of interest as well, the oldest being ‘The Hart’ on Chase Road which is also a listed property. Transport needs in N14 are particularly well served by the London Underground, as each of its distinct sections has its own tube station. Along its other flank, the Palmers Green, Winchmore Hill, and Grange Park railway stations serve as access points to the overground system, while a significant Transport for London bus route operates in the area.
