N9 is the postcode for Lower Edmonton in north London, which covers the northern part of Edmonton within the London Borough of Enfield. While the area had already been settled well before the opening of the Great Eastern Railway and Church Street station, the railway line became the impetus for a huge influx of industry to the region. The district eventually burgeoned into a bustling commercial hub and remained so until after the Second World War, during which much of N9 fell into disrepair, some areas such as Edmonton Green, continue to be under redevelopment. The main retail hub is the Edmonton Green Shopping Centre, with a number of gardens, parks, and open spaces dotting the landscape elsewhere throughout the district. The Meridian Water, Edmonton Green, and Silver Street railway stations provide N9 with its most essential transport links to the surrounding areas.
