Forest Gate is a residential area within the London Borough of Newham that is located along the borough’s northern boundary and between the West and East Ham districts. It has a relatively high concentration of Victorian properties, with many of the more substantial houses located within the Woodgrange Estate Conservation Area to the north-east. Forest Gate is known for having one of the most diversely multicultural populations in the region, which is further evidenced by the large number of restaurants serving a wide variety of ethnic cuisine located along its main roads. With West Ham Park to the south-west and Wanstead Flats to the north, Forest Gate’s residents are provided ample open space for sports and other outdoor activities, while the Elizabeth line is expected to offer direct transport to central London instead of having to change trains at Stratford from the Forest Gate railway station.
