The two different types of waste are household and business and both have two different angles of responsibility:
1. Household waste comes from residential properties. Which RM1 produces 3,171 tonnes of domestic waste and only recycles 38.56%, this means 5,052 is sent to landfill each year. In this instance it is the overall responsibility of RM1’s councils or boroughs to carry out the waste clearances and treatment properly.
2. Business waste is classified as any type of waste generated from a waste clearance of a commercial activity. Which 105 active businesses in RM1 produces 8,136 tonnes of commercial waste and 1,686 tonnes of hazardous waste. It is the responsibility of the business that has produced it to perform proper waste clearance and waste treatment.
