The two different types of waste are household and business and both have two different angles of responsibility:
1. Household waste comes from residential properties. Which RM4 produces 8,763 tonnes of domestic waste and only recycles 38.56%, this means 13,962 is sent to landfill each year. In this instance it is the overall responsibility of RM4’s councils or boroughs to carry out the waste clearances and treatment properly.
2. Business waste is classified as any type of waste generated from a waste clearance of a commercial activity. Which 56 active businesses in RM4 produces 22,482 tonnes of commercial waste and 4,660 tonnes of hazardous waste. It is the responsibility of the business that has produced it to perform proper waste clearance and waste treatment.
